Being Obedient

As we look through the pages of our Bible we can see on just about every page one very important theme. That theme is "Obedience." God, His Son, and the Holy Spirit want all men to understand that obedience is necessary in order to be saved. All humans have been created by God and have a responsibility to do His will in order to enjoy an eternity with Him after we pass from this earth. We should live our lives striving to "be imitators of God as dear children" (Ephesians 5:1). When we understand that we have an obligation to obey God in all things, then the better our life will be here on earth. In addition, when we become submissive to His teaching then we will have peace of mind knowing that we are living our life doing what God wants us to do. Most Christians know and understand that we are to obey God, but in many cases our actions do not correspond with what we know. We must read our Bible and have a willing mind to do that which God commands of us. Jesus said, "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in Heaven" (Matthew 7:21). We learn from this one verse that the only ones that will enter the kingdom of heaven are those who do the Father's will. I have seen in my life that those who practice Christianity are those who have become completely submissive to God's teaching. This is shown in their life in the things they say, what they wear, and how they act. When God is in control of our life then we will truly be a shining light to others. Jesus said,  "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven" (Matthew 5:16). May we live our lives so that God will be pleased with us and that He will receive all the glory!
