Actions Speak Louder Than Words

Jesus said in Matthew 7:21, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven." From this one verse we can clearly see that everyone of us has a responsibility to ourselves and God to make sure that we do His will if we ever expect to be able to enter into heaven. As parents, not only do we need to make sure we are doing God's will, but we have a responsibility to ensure that our children are raised in the ways of God. "And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord" (Ephesians 6:4). Our children are truly a blessing from God and we parents must make sure that we raise them properly. God expects us to live a spiritual life, truly devoted to Him and that we set the right example for our own children. We can't expect them to become godly and of good character if we are not godly ourselves. Remember, our talk talks and our walk talks, but our walk talks more than our talk talks. It is not what we say that will make the difference -- it is our actions that speak the loudest. We should never expect our children to speak or act differently than we do.  May we all strive to do God's will and train our children to do likewise so that we can all look forward to being together in heaven!
